Participation of the ERC LIVE-AR, in partnership with the Institut Supérieur des Sciences Humaines de Tunis (Université Tunis El Manar), to the exhibition « Vivre en ville, agir sur la ville », organised by the IRD – AFD – ONU-Habitat to celebrate the « World Cities Day ».

Our contribution to the exhibition:
In spring 2025, in response to a request from Master’s 1 and 2 students in the Anthropology Department at the Institut Supérieur des Sciences Humaines de Tunis (ISSHT), a multidisciplinary team of teachers from various Tunisian universities and the IRD designed a training course in scientific and film writing, comprising multiple stages. Civic engagement in all its forms (ecological, social, student, cultural, feminist, etc.) was at the heart of this training. Students were tasked with formulating a research question, conducting field research, carrying out biographical interviews, shooting videos and producing sociological portraits. They were also trained in using audiovisual media as a tool for observation and interpretation, as well as in film writing through producing video clips. For our first exhibition, some of the students who benefited from our scientific writing and filming training, organised with the ISSHT before the summer, linked the sociological portraits and videos they produced in June — which focused on the concept of commitment — with the exposition’s theme: the city. Our contribution comprised five photographs and one video of our interviewees, together with an excerpt from their sociological portraits and some information about how they experience and engage with the city.
