Lina Benchekor
PhD candidate
Lina Benchekor is a PhD candidate in political science at Mesopolhis (CNRS, AMU). She graduated from Sciences Po Aix-en-Provence in 2022 and holds a master degree in « political dynamics and society mutations » with a specialization in comparative politics. As part of the LIVE-AR project, she will focus on the biographical trajectories and emotional legacies of Moroccan protest actors, since the 2011 mobilizations. Building on the sociology of emotions and the sociology of commitment, she will explore the « activist careers » and interpersonal relationships of participants in the February 20th movement.
She is more broadly interested in social movements in the Arab world, the Arab lefts, and the question of exile and diasporas. Her earlier research namely concerns the political Arab spaces in France through the study of the mobilisation in support of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah’s liberation. Her master’s dissertation was about the effect of repression on commitment in the Algerian Hirak movement in Oran between February 2019 and February 2022.
